New beads and pendants

I've been working on lots of polymer clay beads in various shades of blue and in a variety of techniques.

I'm also making red beads and pendants. The second picture shows the pendants and textured beads in process of having acrylic paint added for patina.

I'm hoping to put something together for the December Art Bead Scene Challenge.  And maybe this month I'll remember to add the picture when I'm done!

There are actually two inspiration photos this month.  I'm opting for this one, and using the red and blues for inspiration.

Abstract with Bright Colors and Three Yellow Dots

Well, I have one more abstract painting finished!  This one is oil on canvas, 12" x 8".  I'll get a better picture in a few days, once it dries.

I still need to sign this one and the last one I finished.  I hit the craft stores today and picked up a couple of small brushes specifically to sign my paintings.

The next small abstracts are going to be in acrylic, but I may have to let this painting dry a couple of days first. The thing I hate about oils, is how slow they take to dry.  The thing I hate about acrylics is how fast they dry. . .

Thinking About Spring (Again)

I've really gotten side tracked the last couple of days.  All the last minute shopping and what not really sucked up all my time.  And I never got Christmas cards sent this year! I always tell myself I will be more organized next year, but I never am.

Ah well, on to other things. Like thinking about spring! This lovely quilt by Nacyanne Quilt Works on ArtFire has me longing for spring!

I plan to start working on jewelry in spring  colors. I might make some Valentines items as well, but I'm not yet sure about that.

I need to finish getting my ArtFire Studio filled up! That is my big goal for the next few weeks.  I need 41 more items to hit 100.

So, I quess I better get off the internet and get to work.

Another Painting Done!

I finished a small abstract today.  This one is oil on canvas, 6" x 12". I may still have a little touch-up work.   Some of the yellow didn't cover as well as I'd like.

This one turned out ok.  There are a couple of things I wish I had done different.  And some things I should have changed and some things I wished I hadn't.  But I'm considering it done and moving on.

After it dries a bit, I'll get a better picture.  Had some problems with the lighting and some shiny spots, but i didn't want to move it too much while it's wet.

I should have another small painting I should be done with in a couple of days.

Another Snowy Day

I spent the last couple of days working on paintings and polymer clay beads.  I am so glad that tax class is over! I almost don't know what to do with myself.

It has been snowing again. I need to do some shopping, but I keep putting it off because I'm not use to driving on snowy and icy roads.

I hope to get some more beads made over the next couple of days and then work up some more jewelry pieces.

I'm still trying to get to 100 items in my ArtFire Studio, but I still have a ways to go.  Right now I'm at 59.  I'm going to have to really focus my energies on that after Christmas.

Getting Bogged Down

Oh my, I'm getting a little behind on my blogging!  And everything else for that matter. I'm finishing up a tax preparation class that has me stressed beyond measure.  I've gotten really bogged down with it the last couple of weeks.  Thursday is the last day, and I will be glad it is over!

Check out the blog for the ArtFire guild, Shops With Less Than (10) Sales. The monthly give away is a cute key chain by "Designed By Audrey".  Just leave a comment to be entered to win!

Also, check out the featured studios.  This week's featured studio is "Too Fancy", The pink rhodocrosite and green chrysoprase in these earrings have me thinking about spring!

Last weeks featured studio was "Chichi Chick".  I'm really on a spring kick here - love this pink silk rose hair clip!

Right now I have several projects going all at once - jewelry, polymer clay, and paintings.  But they are on temporary hold for a couple of days. I hope after Thursday's tax class (last day) I can really focus on creating some new jewelry and new paintings.

If I actually get a job preparing taxes, that may affect what I get done for a few months. But, I'll cross that bridge if/when I get to it.

Working on New Things

Once finish this necklace, I'm going to need to make more beads and things.  I'm still puttering with it. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with it yet.

I've also started a couple of small oil paintings. The first one is 8" x 10". And now seeing a picture of the first one,  I see some things I don't like about it and will change.

But, I need it to dry before I can do more work on it.  So I, started another one.  On this one I'm planning on experimenting with some different color choices.  I'm going to play with some of the earth colors and black.

At this point it's just sloppy washes to get paint on the canvas and to get an idea of what I want to do.  I need this one to dry before I can work on it. I could start another one while these two are drying. . .

Finishing Things Up

I have a few completed jewelry items I need to upload to my Artfire Studio, so I will be working on that today (I hope).  Completing items is the easy part. Photographing and then adding them to my Studio is fairly time consuming.

I've a couple more things on my jewelry work table, and then I'm going to have to attack some polymer clay and make more pendants, beads and what-not.

Yesterday, I received part of my order from Dick Blick. Unfortunately, it's not the part I really, really need.  What I really need is the the acrylic paint - I'm out of red, yellow and blue!

I have a palette of leftover oil paint from the large painting I just finished.  So I started a small (8" x 10") abstract oil painting.  Paint is just way to expensive to let go to waste!

Guess I better get to work!

Abstract Painting Finally Finished!!

After almost two years I'm finally finished it! YAY!!! Crack open the Champagne!

I glad to be done with it.  A big problem I had in finishing it, was that I could not remember exactly what colors I used. That, and losing my momentum for working on it.  I need to paint more often and more consistent.

I plan to do some smaller abstracts in acrylic and add them to my ArtFire Studio.  Currently I'm eagerly anticipating an order from Dick Blick. I'm short on some colors of acrylic paints, so I may start a smaller oil or two while I'm waiting.

I Could Use a Warm Snuggly Quilt Right About Now

And VA Beach Quilter on ArtFire has some beauties! This stunning quilt was made with Civil War Reproduction fabrics.

This next quilt was pieced in the traditional method - by hand! Another beautiful quilt!

I am partial to traditional, large throw on the bed quilts. But,  she has a lot of different quilted items; baby/toddler items, bags, table toppers,  wallets, coupon organizers etc.

She has a lot of items for sports enthusiasts such as this Steelers table topper. And you can get matching coasters as well.  You can find gifts in her shop for anyone on your list!
